Ahead of the coming Federal election, join us for Church And State Townsville: an evening of inspiration & teaching on the political opportunities & responsibilities of Christians. Learn more about the Biblical relationship between Church & government, and how we as believers can practically be salt & light in the public square. The evening includes presentations from George Christensen MP, Bill Muehlenberg and Dave Pellowe, as well as time for Q&A and conversation over a cuppa & nibbles afterwards.
” The Lord was amazed to see no one intervened…”
Many Scriptures like this in Isaiah 59:14-16 reveal the Church should not be apolitical. But what exactly does the Bible say about God’s people and politics? There is a pressing need for sound teaching on Biblical doctrines of government, church and family (specifically in relation to each other). Church And State is encouraging Christians in every electorate to strategically supply political support as Jesus would in our place – without blind loyalty to any politician or party, but guided by God’s Word.
Motivated by a sincere love for our 25 million neighbours (Aussies) and God’s concern for justice in the land, Dave Pellowe’s ministry is encouraging Christians to use God’s Word to guide their votes & political engagement, instead of the mainstream media, political parties or politicians.
Bill Muehlenberg is a prolific writer and cultural commentator based in Melbourne. A much sought after media commentator, Bill has been featured on most television and radio current affairs programs. Bill teaches ethics, apologetics and theology at several Melbourne Bible Colleges, and is the author of several books including “Strained Relations: The Challenge of Homosexuality”.
George Christensen is a third term Member of Parliament for the Qld electorate of Dawson (Mackay to southern Townsville). He has a degree in journalism and experience in a community paper as well as his own publishing business. Two years ago he quit a prestigious role as Chief Whip of the federal National Party to be unconstrained in his ability to speak his mind on the issues that he considered most important.
Lyle Shelton has spent the past 10 years fighting the decline of society with the Australian Christian Lobby culminating in the battle for marriage. His career is rich with experience in helping Christians engage with our social leaders. His prior background is as a twice elected Toowoomba City Councillor and as a rural journalist.
