Dear Irene Rosenfeld, CEO of Cadbury’s parent company Mondelez,

Easter is a Christian holy day celebrated in culturally Christian nations to remember the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Islam denies these historical events and has no interest in Easter.

Muslims have been following halal dietary restrictions for well over 1,300 years before commercial certification schemes were offered – without any inconvenience. Certification fees are not only unnecessary, but profits generated by them are not disputed to be directed to Islamic schools and mosques, which in turn make donations to Islamic schools and mosques overseas, which are subsequently untraceable but obviously finance fundamental Islamic agendas.

Christians are the most persecuted people group on the planet, and increasingly so. Islam is the biggest persecutor of Christians, and this is not even debated.

Your companies invest in halal certification of products celebrating a Christian holy day to appeal to an ideology that utterly rejects its significance. Your companies take money from people celebrating a Christian holy day to profit the ideology most often responsible for Christian persecution. This is political correctness gone mad, pandering to a minority while insulting the majority, with no reason based in reality.

I will be choosing other brands to enjoy until you completely cease all investment in halal certification.

The Quran says,

And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah .” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.
